Coronavirus: ban on the sale of rapid diagnostic tests due to the risk of misinterpretation

In order to avoid misinterpretation of negative results, the FAMHP has banned the use of rapid coronavirus (COVID-19) diagnostic tests for six months. 

Rapid coronavirus (COVID-19) diagnostic tests only become positive several days after contamination. These tests give a false negative result if they are used soon after the patient has had risky contact or right after the onset of symptoms. The patient can therefore continue to pass on COVID-19 to others around him, thinking that he or she is not sick.

In the interest of public health, the FAMHP has therefore banned putting rapid coronavirus diagnostic tests on the market for a period of six months.

The FAMHP points out that the current situation requires all citizens, whether infected or not, to observe the rules of social distancing and the recommended hygiene rules.
