Coronavirus: recommendations for replacing closed suction systems

date: 20/05/2020

The FAMHP reminds hospitals of the recommendations for replacing closed suction systems and offers temporary practical advice to help healthcare professionals waiting on a new stock of suction systems.

The COVID-19 pandemic is generating enormous demand for medical products, particularly face masks. The increase in global demand is putting pressure on the supply chain for these products. These systems are essential in the treatment of COVID-19 patients.

In order to help hospitals cope with these supply difficulties, the FAMHP restates the recommendations for replacing closed suction systems (document in French), based on the recommendations of the Société de Réanimation de Langue Française (French Intensive Care Society – SRLF).

In these recommendations, the FAMHP also reports on temporary practical advice that can be of assistance to hospitals awaiting the arrival of new stock.

In case of emergency, the FAMHP reiterates the procedure in force for using the available strategic stock.
