Recall of batches of COCUNE brand mitt-type body wipes

date: 13/08/2019

The FAMHP would like to inform consumers and patients of a recall by Stöpler Medical B.V. concerning COCUNE brand mitt-type body wipes. This is a repeat of a safety alert previously issued by the FAMHP that may have escaped the attention of some consumers and patients.

Stöpler Medical B.V. has found that certain batches of COCUNE brand mitt-type body wipes may be contaminated with a bacterium called Burkholderia Cepaci. This contamination derives from the insufficient quality of the preservative used to limit the growth of Burkholderia Cepacia. This bacterium represents an infection risk in immunosuppressed patients.

The manufacturer is asking consumers and patients to stop using the batch numbers indicated in the Stöpler Medical B.V. Safety notice (see Dutch or French).
